On Sunday, June 7, from 1:00-2:30pm, Riverside Park Conservancy hosted a CT Trails Weekend walk in Bates Woods, New London's largest park. During the 2003 Bioblitz, 1,691 species of plants and animals were counted in the park's habitat of mixed hardwoods, fields, wetlands, mowed lawns, and streams, confirming the importance of urban parks in maintaining Connecticut's biodiversity. Connecticut Master Gardener and history enthusiast Susan Munger led the walk.
