The 148th Annual Yale-Harvard Regatta

With its panoramic views of the Thames River, Riverside Park has long been a favorite spot for viewing the traditional Yale-Harvard Regatta.

First contested in 1852, the Regatta is America's oldest collegiate athletic competition. The race has been rowed on the Thames River in New London, Connecticut, on all but 5 occasions since 1878. Originally the race was just between the varsity crews, but there are now 3 events on the day: the 2 mile freshman race, the 3 mile junior varsity and the 4 mile varsity race.

The 2013 Regatta was held on Sunday morning, June 9. Rowers raced upstream, and Harvard (again!) won all the races.

The Riverside Park Conservancy hosted a brunch in the Park from 10am-12noon.
